Their new album aptly titled Legacy tells more about their wicked ways than any history book. Half new, half old, the record resurrects some of their all time favorites and mixes it up with some newer ones. “We wanted to give folks the opportunity to have those classic songs on CD that are difficult to find plus do some new stuff,” states band leader Bruce Brookshire. One such number, Redneck Rock & Roll Band, is a welcomed inclusion as it pays homage to their Southern Brothers; Lynyrd Skynyrd was the best best damn band/ That there ever was/And I tell ya that’s a fact. Aside from being one of the best damn songs of it’s genre. Doc Holliday had a hell of a ride from 1981-83. They toured with the Outlaws and sold out the Tower Theater for those that remember. The band took a couple years off and hit it hard again from ‘86 to ‘89 when they released a killer of a live record, Song For The Outlaw~Live which pushed the band into the next decade. “We had some steady gigs in Germany and Europe that kept us pretty busy,” Bruce goes on to say, “then we did Son Of The Morning Star in ‘93. We’re now semi-retired doing 50+ gigs a year with a big ‘un for New Years here in Macon. We bring all the ‘ol guys out for a great night of Southern Rock ‘n Roll!” Bruce still gigs out with a trio doing more low-keyed stuff these days. He’s traded in his rebel boots for a place in his church choir. Like all good song writers his story can be found in the lyrics to Dead Man’s Road off Legacy.
